1. In this advertisement Nike uses logos by not only putting their name, which is already known as a respected company, but also Plus. By putting Nike Plus they are saying that this is even better than their regular product. It uses pathos by appealing to women emotions of wanting to prove themselves and be better than men by putting “Ladies First. Men Second.” Which is also ethos by playing on the gender stereotypes of men holding doors for women and letting them go first.  By showing a strong athletic woman this commercial is saying that women are just as powerful and uses logos, ethos, and pathos to help convey the message.

2. When President Bush gave the speech after 9/11 was an example of a rhetorical situation. The speech was necessary because of the exigency caused by the planes crashing into the twin towers and the public becoming scared of more terrorist attacks.  The audience was every person in the United States who needed to know why this happened and to hear everything was going to be okay and that they were safe. He did this by adding more constraint like adding more airport security and sending more troops overseas.

3. Rhetoric is everywhere and in everything we do. The way we express ourselves could be rhetoric and the way we perceive things is rhetoric. One thing that means something to you can mean something completely different to me. If we understand rhetoric then we can have a better understanding of everything in general. It explains why you might see something differently than I do. Rhetoric is necessary when trying to try to convince someone to agree with you.
